BEA TBA Speech 20170622

On June 22, 2017, Brad Adatto spoke at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas, on a panel with Elisaveta Dolghih from Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP. This session focused on how to navigate important business and intellectual property issues in the family law setting. Specifically, Brad provided an overview of important pitfalls to spot and prepare for in complicated divorces involving business entities. The talk covered corporate formalities, transferring ownership and intellectual property, transfer restrictions, stock versus asset sales, security instruments, enforceable non-competes and payment protections. Involving a business attorney in a divorce proceeding with a multitude of assets can help ease the process and establish the division of ownership.
