Newsweek Reports a Potential Cure for Wrinkles and Hair Loss
Over the weekend, Newsweek reported on a recent study by the University of Alabama at Birmingham focused on the reversal of the aging process. The study centers around the degradation of the mitochondria in cells which can lead to the symptoms of aging, wrinkles, hair loss, or even cardiovascular disease and cancer.
For their tests, scientists activated a mutation in the mice to degrade their mitochondrial functions. This lead to the mice showing signs of aging in only 8 weeks. Once scientists turned off the mutation, the hair loss and skin wrinkling was reversed.
