Texas DSO Registration Renewals Due January 31, 2019

January 11, 2019

The beginning of a new year in the dental community means it is time to renew your Dental Support Organization (“DSO”) registration with the Texas Secretary of State (“TXSOS”). Under Texas’s DSO registration program, all active DSO registrations expired on December 31, 2018 and must be renewed by January 31, 2019 to remain compliant.

As a reminder, since 2017 it has been required under Texas law for all DSOs providing dental support services to register with the TXSOS. Further, if your DSO enters into an agreement to provide services after January 31, 2018, it has 90 days after executing that agreement to become registered with the TXSOS. Failure to register may lead to a fine of up to $1,000, with additional penalties possible for continued noncompliance.

Finally, please remember that if changes occur during the year resulting in the information on your registration becoming inaccurate or incomplete, TXSOS must be updated within the quarter of these changes through filing an amendment. You cannot just wait until next year’s annual registration.

The forms for registrations, renewals, and updates are published here:  http://www.sos.state.tx.us/statdoc/statforms.shtml.
